Alaiya is WiB’s 2026 Secretary!

What she loves most about WiB is how it makes the professional world feel accessible while fostering such a strong sense of community. When she first started university, networking and industry exposure felt unfamiliar and intimidating, but WiB helped break down these barriers through opportunities to learn, connect and grow in a welcoming space. This experience has allowed her to build confidence, develop professional skills and connect with inspiring people, all while being part of a community that makes university life more engaging and fulfilling.

As Secretary, she is most excited to support the internal team and members behind the scenes. She is passionate about helping others feel welcomed and ensuring everything runs smoothly so everyone can make the most of the opportunities WiB offers.

While her career goals are still evolving, she would love to work as an in-house lawyer in the banking or entertainment industry. She is excited about pursuing a career that is both engaging and offers plenty of opportunities to keep learning.

Alaiya admires Emma Watson as a female role model for using her platform to make a meaningful difference in the world. Her advocacy for gender equality, dedication to education, and authenticity in both her public and private life are deeply inspiring. She particularly admires how Emma balances professional success with purpose, showing that it is possible to achieve personal goals while making a positive impact and using one’s voice and influence responsibly.

The Paint & Sip event stands out as my favourite WiB memory!! It was a relaxing and enjoyable way to bond with others while doing something creative.
